I guess it’s been about a month ago now, I did a little exploring around the Tenleytown metro station. Well, let me start by saying, I went there to check out the park back behind radio towers that you have probably seen while driving down Wisconsin Avenue. I saw the green area on a map, so I just had to check it out. Not knowing anything about it I walked around the outside of the open area and captured a few pictures with my camera phone, I couldn’t help but notice the tall castle like structure inside the barbed fence. I wondered if it was like some old @$$ run-down DC jail or something. I guess I didn’t do enough walking, I almost feel like going back up there just to see if there were any signs to tell me it was Fort Reno. Tonight, I just happened to take a closer look at Google maps and noticed it said Fort Reno. After doing a quick Google search I found out that place has quite a bit of history behind it. It is now maintained by the National Park Service and used for public events. I wish I would have known but they have a series of concerts there throughout the summer.
