As most of you are probably already are aware, I have been thinking about colocating my webserver with a company out in Indiana for $39.95/month, I made up my mind to go for it! I just need to get my packaging material in order for shipping my server. Unfortunately, I will need to get rid of my Comcast services altogether to be able to afford the colocation. It’s not like I watch much TV anyways but its nice to know its there. Once a get rid of Comcast I’ll be able to have access to the antenna on top of my apartment complex for regular old over the air broadcasts. Anyways, last night I took the next step and ordered Verizon online DSL which stuck me in a one year contract for $34.95/month. I can get a dry-line at 3000/768 which is 3Mbps slower then my cable but at 3Mbps it’s good enough. My only major concern I have with Verizon is they block port 80 which is the default port for a webserver. So if for some reason this colocation doesn’t work out and I have to host my box here at home again, I’ll be outta luck. I figure my DSL will be setup within two weeks, that will give me time to get all the packing materials needed to ship my server and cancel Comcast.
Am I ready, we’ll see!
